Hello…and Welcome!

I’m James Davenport.  I am a Behavior Specialist (since 2006), dog trainer (since 1999) and the founder & Editor-In-Chief of Dog Advisor HQ (DAHQ).  And most importantly, I LOVE dogs!

Along with myself, the team at DAHQ consists of a few part-time associate editors and general researchers/writers, plus a growing group of veterinarians (DVMs) who perform research and knowledge gathering services, as well as writing articles that require an advanced professional/clinical level of knowledge and experience. Our Doctors of Veterinary Medicine also assist in fact checking to make sure that all the information on the site is factual and in line with the latest research and science.

Our Why

In 2016, I created Dog Advisor HQ to be the site that I wish I had found multiple times throughout my lifetime with my dogs.  Unfortunately, too many times I found faulty, scientifically questionable and incomplete information.  So, I decided to dive into scientific journals, contact educated and respected veterinarians and trainers directly and, of course, talk to as many experienced puppy / dog parents as possible…all to make sure that I was doing to best that I could for my fur babies. 

I quickly realized that the information that I was finding should be shared with other pet parents…and so, Dog Advisor HQ was born.

DAHQ is a collection of helpful information, general musings about the topic of dog ownership, a resource for special topics (such as dog rescues, spay/neuter drives, etc.) and our recommendations for pretty much anything that you might need in your effort to help your best friend to be the best best friend that a best friend could be!

Finally, I just wanted to share our mission statement and core values with you.  Putting these out into the universe for the world to see is the best way for me to hold myself, as well as our team, accountable to always making sure that we make the health, safety and well-being of our dogs our top priority.
